I’m not much into history and I felt I should know more about african american history. The black history playing cards not only gave good educational history but it made learning a fun tool for my family and friends.

    Thank you

    Lisa

I purchased this Black History Playing Deck in hopes of including fun in our home school African American History lessons. Well, this deck has far exceeded my expectations. The cards have one notable Black person per card from America mostly, and some from the rest of the diaspora. The cards have the regular suits (hearts, diamonds ect), but the face of the card has a beautiful portrait of a notable black person. There is a pocket size book included with the deck that includes a brief bio on every person in the deck of cards(very informative, bestpart of the deck IMHO). I have found people that I have never heard of that made huge contributions in this deck. The suits are also divided by the fields of science and industry(hearts), the arts(diamonds), human rights(spades), adventure (clubs). I can’t recommend this deck more highly. You will not be disapointed. The first activity that we did was to shuffle the deck and I had my daughter pick a card and we read the bio and talked about the contributions of the person. This deck includes Marcus Garvey, Joseph Cinque, Malcolm X,and Denmar Vessey to name a few. I am happy that they didn’t only feature the less controversial black leaders. It is a well balanced collection. The back of the cards have the red, black and green flag, which I found to be a nice touch. Great educational tool. I give it my highest recommendation.
