This review is from: A E Waite’s Pictorial Key To The Tarot: by the creator of the best known Tarot deck. (Paperback)

This is a great gem of a book. Waite, the original creator of the best known tarot deck, writes about tarot, occultism and the symbolism of the design. This deck was the first tarot deck I ever came across so it’s nostalgic for me. And to have it’s original creator talk about it is, well, bliss.

Earlier versions of this book where originally sold with the rider-waite-smith tarot decks so this is as close to the original “feel” you can get.

The amazing detail on every card is thanks to Pamela Colman Smith who hand designed each and every card. I think it best if you have the classic rider-waite-smith deck handy when reading this. You’ll appreciate the book more and the deck as well. My entire perspective changed after reading this and I can now look at the tarot deck for hours, appreciating and understanding the occult symbols and their meanings on each and every card.

I for one like the grammar and sentences from prior days as they’re reflected in this book but I know that’s not true for everyone. Still, there’s a lot of charm in these old books and this one was a great read for me.
