When reading tarot cards, should you always use all suits of the minor arcana. Even if the suit doesn’t pertain to the question asked.

TarotTrumps answers:

I tend to use them both. The minor arcana can tell you many things too, you just have to know what they are saying. The suit can pertain to something from the question you ask as you don’t know what the answer will be how can you say that all the suits are not going to be relevant? There may be some problems in your relationship which could be signified by a card from the suit of swords or their could be financial gains or difficulties which could be signified by the suit of pentacles/coins. Using all the suits and both major and minor arcana can give you a broader more in depth answer to your question.

Some people question the legitimacy of the tarot cards. For us to be able to get accurate readings from tarot cards, we will need to understand something. There are 2 ways to understand the meaning of the tarot cards in a reading, and though one is a guide, the other is essential for accurate readings.

When you first begin to read tarot cards, the only way to start understanding the meaning of tarot cards, is by looking at a book, on a website or learning from someone. This is a great way to learn about tarot cards, and begin reading the cards; however it is not the best way.

Yes, you need to learn the meanings. However, these meanings are only a rough guide. Reading tarot cards in the true sense, is to delve into your intuition to find answers. This is not always easy. Some people find they have great skills at finding the answers through intuition, while others simply need the book.

Can you divine without using your intuition? Yes, it is possible; however, you will only find that you have very general meanings. You won’t come to understand the true benefits and insights that the tarot cards can provide you.

Developing intuition takes time. By doing tarot for a number of years, you will find that you can get more of a picture of what the cards are saying. When you first start reading tarot cards, and having a book with you, you may be apt to thinking that you need to memorize the meanings. However, I must stress that those meanings in the tarot book are only a guide.

Understanding the meaning of tarot cards is pretty easy. Either memorize or use intuition. Both work, however, to get a better understanding of tarot cards, you will need to utilize your intuition.

Again, we are trying to divine not read tarot cards, but in the beginning, it can be an exercise which is necessary in the beginning. You have to get used to your tarot cards, and more you use them, more personal they become. Over time, you will find that you and your tarot cards share a bond, and can provide you with the answers you need.

You maybe thinking that you may not be able to utilize your intuition in the beginning, and that is ok. As you continue to do tarot, and do tarot readings for others, you will find whether tarot or more importantly divining is a route you want to go down.

It can be trying times, and tarot is more close to the new age, than the television is! When you first embark on the journey through finding your own spirituality, you will find many options. Tarot is usually one of those options. Some of us find that tarot is a great thing in our lives, and we come to understand the meaning of tarot cards, while others may find other ways of divining, and understanding spirituality, and life.

Reading tarot cards is a pastime that has been done centuries ago, which determines possible outcomes and predictions of the future. A tarot deck can come in different themes but is basically made up of the twenty-two major arcana cards and the fifty six minor arcana. Since the early Christian European era, tarot reading was already being done and is still being practiced by aspiring and professional tarot readers today.

I personally have a Pythagorean deck, which differs from other decks as it has mathematical backgrounds incorporated with the cards’ meanings. Each card has its own meaning depending on how the tarot reader interprets the formation of the cards. But despite the difference in deck, reading tarot cards is done by interpreting the images or pictures that dominate the entire body of the card.

In reading tarot cards, the cards are placed in a formation called “spreads” which will allow the reader to predict a certain aspect of a person’s life. Commonly used spreads include the Celtic spread, the horseshoe spread, 3-card spread, 1-card spread, the astrological spread, and the teractycs wherein ten cards are arranged in a four-rowed pyramid. There are many other spreads aside from these which the tarot reader can use and arrange his cards the way he sees it fit.

Tarot reading is done to answer questions about anything to do with the person. Whether it would be about love or the future, the cards will either tell you directly the answer or give you a situation which discreetly answers the question. Some tarot decks require you to delve yourself into a spiritual aura and perform certain rituals in order to get an accurate reading.

For my Pythagorean deck, the cards need to always be purified by the moonlight, arranged and placed in an acceptable box or bag to keep bad spirits from affecting the cards, and to offer praise to the gods in order to be able to read the tarot spread correctly and accurately. Reading tarot cards doesn’t necessarily mean denouncing your faith or anything of the sort, but a way to know what may be in store for you just as Chinese and love horoscopes do.

Tarot cards can also be used for other purposes. During the 16th century in Europe, tarot cards were used to compose poetry, also called “tarocchi appropriate”, to describe ladies of the court.

Psychologists also use tarot cards in representing archetypes or are interpreted as pictorial representations of human development from infancy to adulthood. Some occult schools that specialize in symbolic study use tarot cards as a textbook in their teachings as well.

Reading tarot cards does not only have to be for predictions or answering questions regarding future instances, but can also be a way of understanding human beings in general and the way things act and react in this world.

Reading tarot cards can be done if you’re dedicated in learning the basic interpretations of each card. Though it may take some practice and a few trials, reading tarot cards can enhance your ability in interpretation and analysis in certain trivial circumstances.

Why Should You Go for a Tarot Cards Reading?

Tarot cards have been about for at least centuries, but many people believe that they were created during ancient times, most likely in Egypt. They have been a part of favored culture for some time now, and that’s not going to finish anytime soon. If you’ve not jumped on the ship and gone for a Tarot reading yet, you are missing out on a entertaining, fun, and non secular experience. What the mystic can tell you about yourself, your past, and your future will be stunning to many, and often extraordinarily accurate. If there was not something special about Tarot cards, there would not be as many eager followers of the craft. Here are some of the top reasons why you must get out there and go for your Tarot cards reading. The Tarot cards are sitting in the hands of pros, waiting to enlighten the next person.

one. Curiosity – This is a perfectly reasonable reason to get a Tarot cards reading. You do not have to be an affiliate of the community to learn something about Tarot cards and see how they’re used. Even if you are a skeptic and you don’t think a Tarot reading is going to supply you with life changing info, you will be in a position to get a better understanding of the planet of Tarot cards and why so many people are obsessed by them.

two. Recommendation – many folks go to get a Tarot cards reading because they’ve a problem and they are not entirely sure of what they should do about it. Tarot cards can give folk direction in their lives and help them figure out their issues. Going for a Tarot reading isn’t going to give you the numbers to the lottery or tell you how it’s possible for you to get your crush to fall completely in love with you, but the Tarot cards can give you valuable info about what you can do in your own life that can help you in your endeavors .

3. Future – it is also possible to discover what is in store for you in the future through a Tarot reading, which is one of the most important draws. Tarot cards can tell you if there are major events coming up in your life, if you can or should do something to avoid it, helping you to embrace what is coming to you. Not everything that you hear in a Tarot cards reading is going to be sunshine and bunnies but understanding the bad is just as, if not more, critical than knowing what good things are on their way. All you can do is let the Tarot cards talk to you and listen to what they have to say.

If any of these reasons appeal to you, then entering the arena of Tarot cards may be a good step. discover how you can get a Tarot cards reading today.

I bought my first tarot deck when I went through what I like to call a mystical phase in college. I had watched dozens of witch movies and thought that tarot had everything to do with witchcraft and spells.

I was wrong.

Tarot has been around for centuries, even though no one quite knows where it came from. There is evidence that it was in Egypt for a time, as well as in medieval England.

More commonly it is believed that gypsies are somehow responsible for endowing the world with the mystical, magical tarot cards.

Tarot cards are not about witchcraft or spells. They are, instead, about looking into the soul of another person.

1) How to get started

It is actually extremely easy to get started reading tarot cards. If you have never used tarot before, and know nothing about it, you should find some instructions.

There are dozens of books available for purchase, as well as hundreds of websites devoted to tarot reading. Then you have to pick a deck. There are dozens of different types of decks out there, and most of them are fine to use.

Eventually, after you get some practice under your belt, you may find yourself wondering if you can, and should, make your own tarot deck. After all, it is just some cards with pictures on them, right? It should not take that long to make some pictures and color them in, right?

2) The Conundrum Of Crawley

Let us take the example of Aleister Crawley. Aleister believed that he could make up a deck of tarot cards within a very short time. As a matter of fact, he believed that he would be done the deck within two weeks.

He requested the help of skilled drawer, Lady Frieda Harris, in helping him complete his task. For months and years the two went back and forth, doing their best to create the perfect deck. Finally, the deck was published, but not until both Crawley and Lady Harris had passed away.

His deck was named the Thoth deck, and is absolutely breathtaking and very unique. But keep in mind that this beautiful deck of tarot cards took over five years to create.

3) To draw, or not to draw your own tarot cards

There are some people who believe that you do not have to draw pictures on your tarot cards. Personally, I find this just plain wrong.

Tarot cards have a history of being as beautiful as they are prophetic. The question then arises, if you are planning on drawing your own tarot deck, of how good an illustrator you are.

I know that I am a terrible drawer. If I ever wanted to create my own deck, I would probably do as Aleister Crowley did and find myself a good artist to illustrate the deck for me.

You have to realize, though, that there is always the possibility that you and the artist might lock horns about the design, especially if the artist has a lot of pride in their work and are not getting paid for the project.

4) The bottom line

If you do decide that you would like to create your own deck, you need to be prepared for a number of things. For starters:

a) Be prepared to spend some time. It take a long time to make quality tarot decks, so do not get discouraged if it seems to take a few months or even a few years. At the end of the process, you will have a beautiful deck that you can be proud of. In addition, the cards will be imbued with your own energy; and you might find that you are able to read into more information when you are doing a tarot card reading whether it is for yourself or even for your friends.

b) Become a tarot expert. In order to make a good deck, you need to understand all of the pieces of the deck, as well as why they mean what they do. The pictures are there for a reason, and should help you to weave a story together, when they are laid down properly. You can start by doing regular practice of meditation on each of the cards, and do not be afraid to ask your higher, intuitive self for directions in making your own tarot cards! You might find that you will receive signs and information in your dreams!

c) Size does count. Most tarot decks in the store now a days are overly large. The reason is because the artists create very large illustrations, and then the publisher scans the picture down. If they go too small, it will be very difficult to see anything in the picture. Big decks, though, can be uncomfortable if you are not used to them. Most professional tarot readers us cards that are the same size as regular playing cards.

d) Do not scrimp. If you are making your own tarot deck, you are going to want it to last for quite awhile. What is the good of making a deck that gets destroyed in a few months? Use good material and your cards will last a long time.

e) It is not necessary to make your own tarot cards to read them. There are dozens of beautiful decks out there that have been around for hundreds of years, and you can easily use one of those if you prefer. Listen to your inner voice and trust your intuitive higher self. It will give you signs and indications if you should proceed to create your own tarot cards.

Do not be discouraged from creating a deck. If you have the desire to do so, go ahead! After all, tarot is all about knowing yourself so that you can create the future that you want!

By: Daniel Millions

Many people are curious about reading Tarot cards for their friends and family. Once you have a deck of Tarot cards, it is only natural to want to use them with others. After experiencing the insight that Tarot cards can give you, anyone would certainly understand that you would want to share this with the people in your life.

When reading for others, there are some things you’ll want to keep in mind. The purpose of reading for other people is to share your love of the Tarot cards and to offer them some insights, just as you have received them by reading the Tarot cards for yourself. Keeping these tips in mind will help make reading for others in your life go smoothly and make reading fun.

Begin reading for other people you are comfortable around. This may sound like a very logical thing to do, however there are some that will actually do a Tarot reading when someone says to them, “Oh, Tarot? That’s nonsense….well; let’s see what you can do!” This is not the best atmosphere for even a professional Tarot reader to read under, let alone a beginning Tarot reader.

Make your first readings for others are ones for family, friends and people who are genuinely interested in the Tarot. Trust your judgment that these be people who are kind and supportive types.

Let the person begin the Tarot reading by proposing a question. Your Tarot reading begins always with the querent giving a question they would like the reading to focus on. Let the person you are reading come up with the question. Sometimes when we read our family and friends, this means that they want to look into some life issue that may seem tiresome to us but is very close to this person’s heart.

When reading for others it is important to respect people’s feelings. Every question should be treated with respect. Most Tarot questions work best if they are simply phrased and to-the-point. The Tarot question is ideal when it focuses on one issue. When the querent wants to ask about an additional issue, suggest you do a second Tarot reading for that question.

Give the Tarot cards to the person to shuffle. This puts the querent’s energy into the Tarot cards. When you are reading Tarot, this is a very common practice to have the person asking the question shuffle the cards for awhile. It is also fun and makes them feel like a part of the reading.

Try not to criticize the way they shuffle your Tarot cards unless they are doing something that might damage your Tarot cards. Many people are not used to handling Tarot cards; suggest they shuffle them, just as they would playing cards.

Trust your intuition to guide the Tarot reading. The Tarot is full of symbolism and other information that will give you a reading for any question that you ask. Trust your own intuition when looking at the cards.

You may feel inspired to say something different even though a card’s interpretation according to the book means something a little different. This is quite common with Tarot readers and simply means you are connecting with the Tarot cards in your own personal way. Everyone has their own personal way of reading Tarot and as you read for others, you’ll discover yours.

Don’t make predictions about death, medical or legal issues. Most professional Tarot card readers will not touch these issues with a ten-foot pole. It is advisable that you not do Tarot readings for these issues either. When someone asks you to look into why they get headaches, encourage them to see a medical professional.

People may ask you other questions that make you uncomfortable you don’t have to try to answer them. Simply say politely, “I don’t think I can answer that one.” Don’t say you can’t get the answer “right now” or they’ll try to get you to read the issue later on. When you speak to them, be kind, friendly and polite. Do not let them “box” you into doing a reading that makes you uncomfortable in any way.

Try not to take criticisms or comments about your Tarot readings too much to heart. Some people may criticize your Tarot readings and this can hurt your feelings. Other people may praise you nearly to the heavens, making you out to be some amazing oracle type of person. Don’t let this inflate your ego either. Focus instead on your love of the Tarot cards and continue reading them for pure enjoyment.

The person who loves Tarot most often runs into both of these types of people during their reading experiences. You don’t want to let either of them ruin your experience with Tarot cards. When reading Tarot cards, be kind and respectful of others and even if your readings are not perfect they will be the best you can do.

Reading the Tarot for others can be fun, entertaining and quite enjoyable. Having respect for other people and also the Tarot is critical. Once you become skilled at this, it is also a great way to earn additional income.

Author: Shana Diamond

Perhaps the most difficult aspect of reading tarot cards is how subjective it is. It is both fortunate and unfortunate that there is no simple formula for interpreting the tarot.

Reading tarot cards is an art that combines skill and practice with intuition and emotion, making it a particularly challenging undertaking. The same card may have different meanings depending upon its context, placement in the spread, and the situation being asked about.

Combine this with the fact that there are, usually, 78 cards in the traditional tarot deck, infinite spreads (card layouts), and hundreds (if not thousands) of different decks, it’s understandable that some people spend their entire life honing their tarot reading skills.

The good news is that it’s totally doable – and totally fun! Reading tarot cards can be incredibly satisfying, not to mention useful. Along the way, you will learn more about yourself than you thought possible, and will give you a sense of accomplishment and “inside” knowledge.

Like a Language

You can compare the tarot with a language. Can anyone ever know every meaning of every single word in any language? Of course not. So with Tarot. It is a language in itself – a language of symbols.

Just as an individual word can have multiple meanings, so can every individual card. Beyond simple definitions, every word can have multiple connotations which vary with the context of its usage and even the tone of the speaker.

Ever heard, “It’s not what you said, it’s how you said it”? This applies to every language and no less to the tarot.

Can anyone read tarot cards? Sure they can. But just like learning a foreign language, some will seem to have a natural talent for it, while others may struggle. And just like a foreign language, there’s more to it than just memorizing lists of vocabulary and verb conjugations.

To be fluent in tarot, to be able to pull poetry from a spread, it takes an appreciation for the finer nuances of the symbolic language, and practice, practice, practice. Even Shakespeare worked at his art, and so must the tarot reader.

The key to successfully reading tarot is in honest study and sharpening your natural intuition. You know that feeling you get “in your gut” sometimes, that no one can really explain? To be able to effectively interpret a tarot spread, you have to trust your gut. Doing so will probably take some practice.

When seen this way, we see that tarot is more than just a memorization of card meanings. It also involves confidence, trust, and dedication. Most taroists meditate regularly, to become more adept at hearing, and understanding, their subconscious minds.

Learn the Symbols, Listen to Your Heart

There are essentially only two parts to learning the tarot: studying the symbols and learning to tap into that special part of you that is connected to the whole of the universe. Obviously, this is a gross oversimplification of the process, but it is the framework upon which successful tarot reading is built.

Learn the Symbols

In the basic tarot deck, the symbols draw upon the western European magical tradition, and include ideas from Christian mysticism, Pagan mythology, astrology, numerology, alchemy, and Kabbalah. One could spend an entire lifetime studying these traditions, but a comprehensive understanding is not necessary to successful tarot reading.

A basic understanding however, is required. Before we jump into the more analytical side of things, it’s important that you take a deep breath and connect.

Listen to Your Heart

Learning to listen to your subconscious is crucial. There are countless exercises and meditations designed to help you learn to listen. Since meditation is an art itself, and can be very frustrating to beginners, a good place to begin is to think of each card as a piece of art.

Most of us have stood in front of a painting and just looked. You don’t have to understand color theory and composition to appreciate beautiful art. It certainly helps, but it’s not a prerequisite. Go ahead and try it now:

Listening Exercise

Get a pencil and piece of paper. You’re about to start your tarot journal. (Want a special notebook for this? Check out the fabric covered pads from Tarot Totes

Pull a card from your tarot deck. Any card will do.

Now look at it. Don’t worry about its divinatory meaning, the symbolic tradition. Just look at it. Let the card’s imagery draw you in.

What do you feel? Can you describe the colors? Does the image remind of you something – a feeling, a dream, a person, a memory? What’s the first thing that pops into your mind?

Before you forget the sensation, write down which card you pulled, and then your initial reactions to it.

You’re done! It’s that simple. You may want to look up the meaning of that card and compare it with what you felt. Though every card’s meaning is basically standardized, your own interpretation will color and highlight how you read the card.

That’s what’s so beautiful about tarot – every reader, and every reading is unique and personal. Without your own spin on it, a card is just a piece of paper with some pretty pictures on it.

During your “Learning the Tarot” journey it’s always a good idea to journal. Since you’re essentially learning a new language – a symbolic language – taking notes is never a bad idea.

Years from now you’ll be able to look back a see how far you’ve come. It’s a journey that will change you forever.
