Your Questions About Major Arcana

David asks…

what is the house of major arcana?

I’ve read about it in a book but I’ve found just about nothing other than that a Queen of France created it. And I know that Major Arcana is a Tarot card reading

TarotTrumps answers:

Well, no, the Queen of France didn’t invent it. There are a lot of stories about the origin of tarot cards but here’s the account given by the historians. Tarot was invented in mid 15th Italy for the Milanese court. It consists of two parts: a standard pack of Latin suited playing cards (that occultists call the Minor Arcana) and a fifth suit of picture cards (that occultists call the Major Arcana). These extra cards took as their theme a triumph procession, hence their early name of trionfi, meaning triumphs and from which we get our word trump! And this is what there were, a suit of fixed trump cards for use in a family of games that continues to be played throughout continental Europe today.

It was not until the end of the 18th century that a Parisian occultist published the claim that they came from Ancient Egypt and contained the secrets and wisdom of Egypt’s priests. He also published the first account of how to use the cards in divination. During the 19th century, a number of French occultists expanded these beliefs, claiming that the trumps corresponded to the paths of the Tree of Life. At the end of the 19th century, a group of British occultists introduced tarot to the English speaking world, integrating the cards into their magic system. This group was called the Order of the Golden Dawn and some of its members heavily redesigned the cards to create the type of occult packs that you will be familiar with today.

William asks…

Help me develop supernatural powers based on the Major Arcana for a story I’m making?

I want it to have the opposites as complements, like Sun/Moon one. I plan to include some string-like (not adhesive like spider man) qualities for the Hanged Man Tarot, but I’m out of ideas for the rest.

TarotTrumps answers:

The Hanged Man’s powers should be cancelling kinetic energies, since the Hanged Man card deals with stagnation and limbo.
I’d say use each card’s meaning to base the hero/heroine’s powers on. Some examples:
High Priestess – Secrets to be revealed – telepath/empath
Heirophant – False fronts – shapeshifter
Temperance – Patience/Mercy – disabled genius that created/maintains the
Tower – base of operations.

Good luck.

Mandy asks…

What are some things like the Major Arcana(22), Zodiac(12), Deadly Sins/Heavenly Virtues(7) ?

Is there a term for that type of ‘astrology/paranormal’ grouping? What else is like these things that are 5 or more for a theme for me to be used in an art concept?

TarotTrumps answers:

If I understand you you might want to check out the Seven Directions(North, South, East, West, Above,Below,Mystery Within/Without) or the Four Sacred Herbs (sage, cedar, sweet grass and tobacco) The Three Phase of time( Past, Present, Future) The Four Agreements ( look it up), The Three Fates( again look it up) The Nine Rings of Hell, The Seven Tiers of Heaven, The Three Rings of the Elf Lords, The Seven Rings of the Dwarves, the Nine Rings of Men, The One Ring to Rule Them All and A partridge in a pear tree. That’s all I can come up with right at the moment. :) hope it helps ya out

Ken asks…

What card trick is this and how do you do it?

I was at a camp two years ago and someone showed me a cool card trick. The person has 3 different people each pick a card then puts them aside, then he puts them back in, shuffles and spreads the cards out. He then asks the 3 people to each pick a card and when we picked up our cards, it was the same one. What card trick is it called? Did he use a trick deck (or whatever its called)

TarotTrumps answers:

This can be done with a few sleight of hand moves, but the easiest way is to use a trick deck. I don’t want to let everyone here in Answers in on the secret so email me and I tell you more about the deck.

Ruth asks…

What is the quickest way to get out of credit card debt FAST?

I currently have around US $4,500 in credit card debt, spread over three separate cards. I have US $1,300 in savings and I earn anywhere between US $2,000 and $3,000 each month.

I have zero expenses.

My question is, how do I pay off my credit card debt as quickly as possible whilst also building on my savings?

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!

TarotTrumps answers:

Please do not consolidate. It is not free, they will lower your payments by increasing the length of time until you are debt free, and you will take a hit on your credit score. Or they negotiate your debt down after telling you not to pay for awhile adding another hit to your credit score. Student loans are the only debt that can garnish your wages for non payment without taking you to court first. Just list them out on a piece of paper or a spreadsheet and follow the plan. If you work the plan, the plan will work for you.

A. Have a garage sale and sell anything that you no longer need or want.

B.Get a temporary part time job, if you have one, get another.

Here is a plan that can help you. If you work the plan, the plan will work for you:
1. Make a budget. Make the budget a week before you get paid. A budget is not a punishment! It is a tool which will free you from ever having to worry about money again. Put everything in your budget. Especially those annual, biannual, or quarterly bills like car registration, insurance, etc. Give every dollar you are going to bring home the name of where it is going. Add an “emergency fund” category to your budget for 25 dollars and save up until you have 1000-1250 dollars. Your emergency fund will help keep you from getting into new debt because of an emergency. If you can, set up a direct transfer to a savings account for your emergency fund. That way it moves automatically and you don’t even have to worry about it. You must cut your spending and live on less than you make.

2.First get current on all of you debts and make no more late payments. Stop using your credit cards immediately. Do not take on any more debt. Credit cards are like quicksand only the death is much slower. Make a list of all of your debts in order of highest interest rate to lowest interest. Use cash only for your spending from now on.

3.Pay the minimum due on all of your debts and then put your extra money towards paying off the highest interest one first. After you get that one paid off, you put the money you were paying on debt #1 (the minimum payment and the extra payment) towards debt #2. That will pay debt #2 off faster. When that is paid off, you put all three payments towards card #3 and that one will be paid off pretty quickly. As an example:

To start :
Debt #1 (highest interest): minimum payment+ extra payment
Debt #2 (middle interest): minimum payment
Debt #3(lowest interest): minimum payment

Debt #1: paid off
Debt #2: minimum payment from Debt #1+ Minimum payment from Debt #2 +extra payment
Debt #3: minimum payment

Debt #1: paid off
Debt #2: paid off
Debt #3:Minimum payment from card #1+ minimum payment from Debt #2+ minimum payment from Debt #3+ extra payment.

That way, you will get them all paid off, on time, and pay the least interest. It will also help towards rebuilding your credit since you will no longer have any late payments. This works no matter how many different debts you may have.

4. After you get all of your debts paid off, add to your emergency fund until you have 6-12 months of income saved up. Put that emergency fund money into a liquid money market fund or into a Bank of America no-risk CD so that if you need the money you can take it out without penalty.

5a. When you have your emergency fund in place, add a category for “fun” to your budget. Save for a holiday, a vacation, a big screen, or dinners out, whatever goal you want. Remember to enjoy your life.

5b. When you have your emergency fund in place, start saving for your retirement. Join the 401(k) plan at work and contribute the maximum. Your employer probably matches at least part of your contribution so why give up free money? Open a Roth IRA and contribute the maximum on a monthly basis. If you start saving for your retirement now, you will probably retire a millionaire.

5c. When you have your emergency fund in place, start saving for your next car. Only buy cars, or other things that depreciate, with cash. Save up for a nicer car. That way you get the interest instead of paying the interest.

You can do it and it isn’t as hard as you think. Just follow the plan.

Susan asks…

plz help me with the tarot card meanings for THE DEVIL & THE HIGH PRIESTESS?

plz help me with their meanings…my task is to create sum object/building/out of what i feel about the card or i can even use sum existing buildings which give me feel as my cards are

TarotTrumps answers:

High priestess : Meaning: Wisdom, knowledge, learning, intuition, purity, virtue

Devil : Losing independence, addiction and enslavement, caught up in the material, overindulgement, choosing to stay in the dark, pleasures, lust, and desire.

However, tarot card meanings are not set in stone. Find a deck you like, look at the card and examine the feelings that naturally come to you. For example,, one of my friends always reads Devil an a return to instincts, being in contact with your raw energy and psychic side. For him, it is a completely positive card.

Your Questions About Suit Of Clubs

Charles asks…

Help me make a quiz???(What Card Suit are You?)?

I need some 4-multiple choice question to determine which card suit someone is… these are the suit characteristics.>

Spades is the suit that is thought of to be the head of all suits… it is the leader and a example for the other suits, even though it possesses a mix of characteristics known from the other three suits.
Anyone who resembles the suit of Spades will likely share some of it’s virtues of Benevolence, Bravery, Commitment, Devotion, Integrity, Loyalty, Persistence, Strength, and Trust

HEARTS is a suit that possesses more soul than the other three suits, and has a grace all of it’s own.
A person who resembles the suit of Hearts will often share some of it’s virtues such as Ambition, Courage, Determination, Fortitude, Grace, Honesty, Idealism, Integrity, Love, Magnanimity, Perseverance, Purity, Reliability, and Strength.

CLUBS is a suit that knows it’s pros and cons, and builds upon itself only to become stronger in what it believes is just. It can be thought of as a Knight who inspires a King.
Someone who mirrors the suit of Clubs will likely share it’s traits of Bravery, Diligence, Commitment, Contentment, Dependability, Discernment, Fortitude, Humbleness, Loyalty, Modesty, Patience, Respect, Selflessness, and like the other suits it possesses Strength, but on a higher level than of the other three.

DIAMONDS is a suit that can focus and fix on goals it sets out for itself while knowing exactly what is and what should be. It’s grasp on the world and reality makes it a suit that the others can look to. It can be thought of as clever and full of knowledge.
A person who portrays the suit of Diamonds may often share it’s traits of Commitment, Confidence, Curiosity, Courage, Determination, Diligence, Discernment, Flexibility, Focus, Frugality, Honor, Impartiality, Meekness, Modesty, Sobriety, Tolerance, Strength, and Wisdom.

Any multiple question suggestions?

Hi :) I’d love to learn some form of mixed martial arts, possibly with weapons also. I’ve never done martial arts before but I am very athletic. Wondering if there’s any clubs suited to this in Melbourne or a specific style which I’d enjoy? :)
Thanks!

TarotTrumps answers:

Betty asks…

What does each suit of cards represent?

I figure that maybe diamonds represents money or wealth, and that hearts stands for love or romance. But that leaves spades and clubs. What do those suits stand for?

TarotTrumps answers:

Spades usually represent war and clubs represent peace

Your Questions About Suit Of Cups Water

Donald asks…

Do they make special bras to use in the water?

I got a new bathing suit but it does not have cups in it only the material i was wondering if any places make cups to put into your bathing suit or some kind of bra to wear in the water that i could use under my bathing suit.

TarotTrumps answers:

Just take the cup parts of a regular bra that you like and remove all the rest of the bra. Then sew those cups into your new swimsuit. A smooth cupped bra designed to wear with sweaters and knit tops is what you need. Use one that is one or two shades darker than your natural skin tone, if you can find it.

This kind of smooth, skin color, non-patterned bra cup can be sewn into your suit and it will look fine. You can leave the bottom elastic band area of the bra and just sew the whole thing at the sides only (for a tankini or one piece suit) or you can just sew the cups alone, at the sides and bottom, into a bikini top.

If you make this kind of alteration to your new suit, try it out in the shower first and move around a lot to test it out in different positions.

If I were you, I would just return the suit if I could and get one with a bra already sewn in at the factory. Much easier…

Good luck!! : )

Michael asks…

I need makeover help ?

This is going to be a long question. :)
Well school starts in about 3 or 4 weeks. I guess I’m pretty, but I’m tired of being known as the “cute one” to all of my friends. I want to look prettier, hotter, and more mature. I also want to look like a girl guys stop and stare at. But I don’t want to lose myself!!
I’m going into high school.
I’m maybe 4’11″. Pretty short. I have medium skin that tans to a dark walnut in the summer. I have almond shaped dark brown eyes, and dark brown hair. I’m really thin, and people make fun of me for it and being short. I have a small amount of really long (overgrown) layers, and overgrown sidebangs.
My style is like a t-shirt, jeans, polos, sneakers kind. Really casual.
I have a bunch of questions, for different categories.

HAIR
1) Should I cut my hair like this (having a heart-shaped face?): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiHL3WkYECc
2) Does giving yourself natural highlights with apple cider vinegar (1 cup water, 1 cup ACV) actually work? I’m tempted to try, because my mom doesn’t want me to go to a salon for highlights and she won’t let me buy a kit.
3) How could I fix my hair like this?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnZ3USvpWN0
I actually have no curling iron, but if I wanted my hair curly I usually use braids and sleep in them overnight. I also own a hair dry (but no straightener). Do I just have to make really loose braids to get the waves?
4) Is there a way to make your hair grow a little faster? I want it to be a little longer before it gets cut.
5) Any cute hairstyles, casual like messy buns, etc.?
6) Any healthy hair tips?

FASHION
I’m petite. I want a cute, fun girly style.
1) What are the trends for 2010-2011?
2) What are the essentials in my wardrobe?
3) What stores should I shop at?
4) Anything else I need to know?
5) What kind of bags are cute, affordable, and durable (like purses, etc.?)
6) What kinds of shoes are cute affordable, trendy, and they go with any outfit? How many and what kinds of shoes should I have?

MAKEUP
1) What colors would suit me?
2) How much is enough makeup?
3) How do you curl your eyelashes?
4) Can Vaseline be used as mascara?
5) What/ how should I do my makeup if I want my eyes to look bigger?
6) Or, how can I work with my almond eye shape?
7) Any beauty tips?

BODY
1) What’s a good beauty routine?
2) How often should I shave/pluck/wax?
3) How do I shape and pluck and groom my eyebrows?
4) How much water should I drink each day, recommended?
5) What’s a good skincare routine? I get occasional zits.
6) Good ways to get rid of eyebags?
7) Do any of those eyebag creams work? 8) Ways to develop body confidence?
9) How to take care of a girlstache?
10) How to keep up with everything?
11) How to look good anytime, anywhere?
12) What exercises to fix my flat butt? (:

PERSONALITY
1) How to not lose myself?
2) How to flirt with guys?
3) How to be more organized this year?
4) How to be more girly?
5) How to be a better student?
6) How to pay mroe attention in class?
7) How to make more friends? 8) How to survive high school? (:
9) How to not procrastinate?

Any other additional tips you have are going to be greatly appreciated whether it’s beauty, personality, etc. Please, no rude comments. Thanks so much! (:

Your Questions About Rider-waite Tarot

John asks…

should i keep practicing using my tarot deck?

i bought 2 tarot decks and they are golden tarot & radiant rider-waite tarot deck. i bought the golden tarot becuz i like the images on the cards and i wanted ot learn how to use them, but i found the tarot to be difficult meaning the cards have to many meanings. the rider-waite has meanings but not that many and i found it easy to study then the golden tarot deck. i want to practice hard and be a good tarot reader one day. should i keep practicing.

TarotTrumps answers:

I think you should. You seem to enjoy the activity.

Skeptics can yammer on about tarot not being able to tell the future, but when you’re reading the tarot to yourself you’re conceptualizing the images and meanings of the cards and they are reflecting psychological aspects of your own mind (and hence behavior patterns) that may otherwise have remained unconscious.

And this can give you insights into how your own thoughts and behaviors may shape your future. So it really is a type of prophesying.

Mark asks…

Tarot Card Help~Can I bring them to school?

I have the Rider-Waite tarot deck. I read on a small article that I cannot leave them unattended which I have done so for about 2 days. Can I bring them to school?

TarotTrumps answers:

Psychic here

And tarot friend had the right idea… I really have never heard of a deck you could not leave unattended unless they were talking about you spending a lot of time imprinting on them.

I did want to bring up one fact and that is In the US you have rights that protect you against any form of discrimination especial religious beliefs and this falls in that category… If EVER you are told that you can not have your religious beliefs in school “Get a lawyer”

they can not tell a christian they must leave their bible at home, but I would assume that you should keep them put away in your bag, to keep from causing a distraction and you really do not want others to touch them.

I hope I was able to help in your search for answers
read my blog on tarot reading http://www.psychictarotreadings.net/reading-tarot-cards-correctly/

Linda asks…

Can you explain what’s the meaning of this Rider Waite Tarots?

I had did an Tarot reading on the Rider Waite Tarot deck on someones relationship. The Tarots that came out was Three of Wandsm, Five of Swords, Strength, Nine of Swords, Five of Pentacles, King of Pentacles and Seven of Pentacles. Can you explain the meaning of these tarots together? How is the relationship?

TarotTrumps answers:

The 3 of wands talks about having to go that next step in the relationship, the 5 of swords tell me that someone is making another person feel belittled and push around in a way. The strength card is talking about having that courage to face your fears. Next we have the Nine of Sword showing tenseness and sleepless nights. 5 of Pentacles feeling like there is no hope in sight. Then we come to the King of Pentacles, a king take control of his life he does not let other tell him how to rule, this is what must happen to bring balance. The last card show with some work things can get better and turn into something beautiful, but both people have to be on the same page.

Hope that helps

Your Questions About Minor Arcana

Steven asks…

Missing a tarot card; can I still give readings?

I’ve had a deck for 3 years that I do readings with off and on. One day when I took them out, though, they scattered all over the street on a windy day, a friend and I tried to gather them all up. When I sorted through them, I realized I was missing the Page of Cups.

Does this have any symbolic importance for my life; like perhaps a missed love interest or something?

More importantly, can I still give accurate Tarot readings with a missing card? It’s a minor arcana card, but still.

All suggestions would help.

TarotTrumps answers:

It is best to have all of your cards but it will still work fine without it. Since it is only one card you can still use them , a card with a similar meaning will just show through in the reading as a replacement.

Richard asks…

Where can I physically buy a tarot deck?

I’ve searched and searched, I want to buy a tarot deck, but I want to be able to walk into the shop pick it up and look at it.
I know of all the on-line stores around, but I don’t want to blindly buy a tarot deck, I may as well stick with the one I have now if I do that.

I hate the one I have now BTW, its not inspirational in anyway, and the minor arcana cards are boring.

Does anyone know of any shops in Eastern Sydney that sell tarot decks, I have checked the book stores and nothing…
Thank you to the first three, but we don’t have Barnes and Noble, or Borders here…
Ive checked Witchvox…that wasnt any help either…

Book of Life: I pray, I love God…but i have also taken the time to learn this art, and i am intrigued but its complexity…i dont believe in sitting back and waiting for God to dump things in front of me.
I also dont put a huge amount of faith in the cards…but i enjoy reading them, because the people i read for do put faith in the cards…

There is a great website that shows hundreds of decks, including pictures of each card in the deck! Here’s the site: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/
Most stores don’t let you open the deck and look at all the cards, so that may not be helpful unless you go to a specifically metaphysical book store. The website I recommend is great because you can look through all the decks, choose the ones you like, and then order them online from the retailer of your choice.

I hope this helps!

My Jean Dodal deck of Tarot cards?

I recently bought this deck of Jean Dodal tarot cards which looks something like this

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e0/Jean_Dodal_Tarot_trump_01.jpg/180px-Jean_Dodal_Tarot_trump_01.jpg

The problem is, the minor arcana‘s are hard to read. For example, when I pick out a card of nine swords, I can’t tell if it’s reversed or not reversed because it looks the same from both side round.

Can someone help me?

TarotTrumps answers:

The first thing to remember is if you are totally honest with yourself, the cards cannot tell you anything you don’t already know.

That said, consider the card whether reversed or not, the card is ALSO inclusive of the representation that includes both sides of the energy of the card’s meaning and read it that way. Then depending on the layout you are using, figure out the interpretation relative to the other cards. That’s also how to use the Thoth deck more accurately.

An interesting divination method you might look into is the Oracle of Fortuna by Ophiel.

Your Questions About Major Arcana 5

Linda asks…

I’m new to tarot, and i need help interpreting a reading?

I used the Celtic Cross spread, using Major & Minor Arcana

Card 1:Two of Wands
Card 2: Six of Swords
Card 3: The Emperor
Card 4: The Fool
Card 5: The Empress
Card 6: Seven of Pentacles
Card 7: Ace of Pentacles
Card 8: Nine of Pentacles
Card 9: Knight of Wands
Card 10: King of Wands

TarotTrumps answers:

It doesn’t matter what it means to someone else, it matters what it means to you. Ultimately tarot, like prayer or meditation, is a means of connecting with your unconscious, not with some spirit realm or some collective unconscious or some god.

Richard asks…

Will you help me with this tarot spread?

Can you help me with this Celtic Spread?
I did a Celtic Spread. Will you help me? I’m new to Tarot and will be posting other questions. This question is to Tarotist. If you are not a tarotist please do not answer and no sarcasm is necessary.

I’m aware that there are a lot of versions of Celtic Cross Spreads. The method I followed was based on the book Karmic Tarot in which -

Position 1 That which covers me or favors me – 6 of Swords

Position 2 That which opposes me or what is in conflict with me (although some say, it’s what can also influence me for the better, I dunno) – Temperance.

Position 3 That which is above me – Life purpose, intuition speaking from future – 3 of Cups

Position 4 That which is below me – Past speaking of lessons learned or unlearned, Self Asserting itself from the past – 6 of Wands

Position 5 – The immediate past – King of Pentacles

Position 6 – The immediate future – 6 of cups

Position 7 – Projection of my potential Physical Plane (state of body), including health, work and home – 10 of Swords

Position 8 – Projection of my Emotional Plane (state of heart) including relationships and creative endeavors – The Empress

Position 9 – Projection of my potential Mental Plane (state of mind) including philosophy, belief systems and basis for decision making and goals – Justice

Position 10 – Projection of the Spiritual Plane (state of soul) – the future information from all previous positions – 8 of Wands.

3 major arcana
2 Swords
2 Cups
2 Wands
1 Pentacle

TarotTrumps answers:

I really do not like the Celtic Cross for this reason, it can be ambiguous. The simple bottom line of the reading is to go with your emotions and intuition rather than trying to overthink and control everything, Don’t be so serious.

Your Questions About Tarot Book

Linda asks…

What Tarot book title’s you guys thing is the best?

Oop! not thing..it’s “think”
I’m looking for a book, pls suggest me some good title.
Many thanks for your suggestion. I will try them out. You know, I have difficulties interpreting what shown in the cards, for instance, Queen of Pentacle, I have no idea either I should stick to the card’s meaning itself only or examining deeply into what signs and symbols on the card are implying.

Thanks for suggestion anyway.

TarotTrumps answers:

The best book I found for teaching yourself how to read the Tarot cards is Learning the Tarot by Joan Bunning. In addition to descriptions of the cards, it has exercises and layouts to learn. A very good beginner’s book.

There is a free online course with the same content. Link is below

James asks…

is Absolute Beginner’s Guide to Tarot the best book to start with?

Hey I’m just starting to learn how to read tarot cards and understand them. I found this book on a website “Absolute Beginner’s Guide to Tarot” and it got really good reviews on tarots, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a better book to start with.

TarotTrumps answers:

I would suggest the one you mentioned. It is really good for the basic foundation of knowledge we al need to then elaborate on. Later, I would suggest buying more advanced books.
But Absolute Beginner’s Guide to Tarot is DEFINITELY a good start!

My only concern, if your brain is as fast-working as mine, you may ‘mentally outgrow’ it soon, meaning it will be too simple. But then, just buy a new book!

PS: I love how you are taking up tarot! All the best
:)
