By Neoli Marcos

Whether we admit or not, most of us have quaint notions of what tarot cards are. On the surface, they are merely a deck of illustrated cards used in predictions, while the tarot card reader is an eccentric person dressed in robes seated behind the fortune-telling booth in the town fair.

This image of tarot cards is, of course, clichéd, and yet we’d rather feel comfortable with its familiarity than dig deeper.

We resort to the more convenient explanation rather than actually investigate the sometimes unpleasant yet gratifying truth of tarot cards.

Perhaps, the most famous among the tarot cards is the Death Card, a card quite unfairly invested with too much negative meanings and energies behind it, so much so that we usually think of tarot cards as tools of the occult, vehicles of evil even. While we can’t deny the fact that indeed tarot can be used for such purposes, tarot cards can also be perfectly well-intentioned and can be actually used for good causes.

As a matter of fact, the earliest use of tarot cards in fifteenth century Italy was as a game, much like a deck of regular playing cards but with the addition of trump cards. It wasn’t until late 17th or 18th century that tarot cards began to take on a more serious role in divination.

Over the years, the pictures in the tarot cards, their rich symbolisms, procedures, purposes, and meanings evolved in such a way that the characters portrayed in them have come to mirror all our follies, fears, strengths, and hopes. By stringing them together into a tale, we are able to retell and uncover the past as we would have liked it unfold, as well as get a sense of a manageable future we can feel safe with.

A radical and inevitable shift indeed for tarot cards from a simple game to life-changing therapy.

Carl Jung, a world renowned psychologist has always considered tarot as an alternative psychotherapy. By utilising the rich imagery encapsulated in every tarot card, we are able to voice out our concerns, look into our past, and prepare for the future.

In some cases, children who don’t yet know how to speak can use the images and characters in the tarot deck to piece together their thoughts and tell their story. Tarot cards then offer an alternative language system through which we can bring our Unconscious up to the light.

Jung explains that tarot cards represent different archetypes of human personality and situations. The Death Card then is not just simplistically a dreary card foretelling iretractable death to the querent (person who asks questions in a tarot card reading). Rather, the death card can be seen as the death, an end of something inside us: a vice, long standing pain, bad habits, sorrow, signaling rebirth.

We do not just blindly pick out cards from the tarot deck. Every moment of our lives we are armed with choices, choices that spell out and define our fate. It’s not just what you keep out from your life that matters; it’s also what you allow to make a difference. Even if they’re just a deck of tarot cards.

Perhaps the most difficult aspect of reading tarot cards is how subjective it is. It is both fortunate and unfortunate that there is no simple formula for interpreting the tarot.

Reading tarot cards is an art that combines skill and practice with intuition and emotion, making it a particularly challenging undertaking. The same card may have different meanings depending upon its context, placement in the spread, and the situation being asked about.

Combine this with the fact that there are, usually, 78 cards in the traditional tarot deck, infinite spreads (card layouts), and hundreds (if not thousands) of different decks, it’s understandable that some people spend their entire life honing their tarot reading skills.

The good news is that it’s totally doable – and totally fun! Reading tarot cards can be incredibly satisfying, not to mention useful. Along the way, you will learn more about yourself than you thought possible, and will give you a sense of accomplishment and “inside” knowledge.

Like a Language

You can compare the tarot with a language. Can anyone ever know every meaning of every single word in any language? Of course not. So with Tarot. It is a language in itself – a language of symbols.

Just as an individual word can have multiple meanings, so can every individual card. Beyond simple definitions, every word can have multiple connotations which vary with the context of its usage and even the tone of the speaker.

Ever heard, “It’s not what you said, it’s how you said it”? This applies to every language and no less to the tarot.

Can anyone read tarot cards? Sure they can. But just like learning a foreign language, some will seem to have a natural talent for it, while others may struggle. And just like a foreign language, there’s more to it than just memorizing lists of vocabulary and verb conjugations.

To be fluent in tarot, to be able to pull poetry from a spread, it takes an appreciation for the finer nuances of the symbolic language, and practice, practice, practice. Even Shakespeare worked at his art, and so must the tarot reader.

The key to successfully reading tarot is in honest study and sharpening your natural intuition. You know that feeling you get “in your gut” sometimes, that no one can really explain? To be able to effectively interpret a tarot spread, you have to trust your gut. Doing so will probably take some practice.

When seen this way, we see that tarot is more than just a memorization of card meanings. It also involves confidence, trust, and dedication. Most taroists meditate regularly, to become more adept at hearing, and understanding, their subconscious minds.

Learn the Symbols, Listen to Your Heart

There are essentially only two parts to learning the tarot: studying the symbols and learning to tap into that special part of you that is connected to the whole of the universe. Obviously, this is a gross oversimplification of the process, but it is the framework upon which successful tarot reading is built.

Learn the Symbols

In the basic tarot deck, the symbols draw upon the western European magical tradition, and include ideas from Christian mysticism, Pagan mythology, astrology, numerology, alchemy, and Kabbalah. One could spend an entire lifetime studying these traditions, but a comprehensive understanding is not necessary to successful tarot reading.

A basic understanding however, is required. Before we jump into the more analytical side of things, it’s important that you take a deep breath and connect.

Listen to Your Heart

Learning to listen to your subconscious is crucial. There are countless exercises and meditations designed to help you learn to listen. Since meditation is an art itself, and can be very frustrating to beginners, a good place to begin is to think of each card as a piece of art.

Most of us have stood in front of a painting and just looked. You don’t have to understand color theory and composition to appreciate beautiful art. It certainly helps, but it’s not a prerequisite. Go ahead and try it now:

Listening Exercise

Get a pencil and piece of paper. You’re about to start your tarot journal. (Want a special notebook for this? Check out the fabric covered pads from Tarot Totes

Pull a card from your tarot deck. Any card will do.

Now look at it. Don’t worry about its divinatory meaning, the symbolic tradition. Just look at it. Let the card’s imagery draw you in.

What do you feel? Can you describe the colors? Does the image remind of you something – a feeling, a dream, a person, a memory? What’s the first thing that pops into your mind?

Before you forget the sensation, write down which card you pulled, and then your initial reactions to it.

You’re done! It’s that simple. You may want to look up the meaning of that card and compare it with what you felt. Though every card’s meaning is basically standardized, your own interpretation will color and highlight how you read the card.

That’s what’s so beautiful about tarot – every reader, and every reading is unique and personal. Without your own spin on it, a card is just a piece of paper with some pretty pictures on it.

During your “Learning the Tarot” journey it’s always a good idea to journal. Since you’re essentially learning a new language – a symbolic language – taking notes is never a bad idea.

Years from now you’ll be able to look back a see how far you’ve come. It’s a journey that will change you forever.

Designing your own Tarot Deck can be fun and fulfilling. Even if your artistic talents are less than masterful a fully functional, unique, and aesthetically pleasing deck can be created. Whether you choose to decorate an existing deck or create your own here are some helpful ideas to get you started down the right path.

Many people use the Golden Dawn Deck for inspiration. This is because The Golden Dawn Deck encourages people to design their own sets of Tarot cards. To do this, you can either copy the original design and redraw them with your own take on them or create your own deck with symbols and pictures from scratch.

Once you have settled on a design for your Tarot deck you should copy the design so you can construct your own. Your artwork may vary from the design of the deck you copied, but in the end you will have your own unique deck of Tarot cards.

Another method of designing your own set of Tarot cards is to color in your own deck. To do this, you can copy a set by tracing out the pictures on paper and then coloring them in, or by painting over the pictures on a deck itself.

The Magician from the Rider-Waite deck, ready to color.

You could use any deck for inspiration and many have made their own versions of the Rider-Waite cards and had them published. You may wish to create a brighter, more vivid, bold version of the deck or create a softer, more subdued version. Another interesting variation is to use psychedelic designs with abstract colorings.

If you choose to create your own deck of Tarot cards then you may wish to add your own special touches to them. These could be special symbols, pictures, colors, words, textures, shapes or letters. You may wish to leave out certain things when recreating a deck of Tarot cards. If you like the artwork for example but not the card titles you could redo the artwork and leave out the less aesthetic portions of the Tarot decks theme.

If you want to create a deck entirely of you own, the first thing you need to do is think of a theme for them. Some people use their culture, family, traditions, and favorite stories as themes for their decks. Next get some Card stock from your local art supply store. Card stock works well for creating your own deck of cards. Card stock comes in different colors, sizes, and thickness. This makes choosing the perfect card stock an easy choice.

Even if you are not Picasso you can create your own Tarot deck by utilizing photos. Pictures taken of special people, places, or events can be used. If you like have some friends or family dress in appropriate attire and use that for your decks artwork. Many photo programs also contain project templates and stock photos that you can organize, print, and cut out for your tarot card project.

You can even add special touches to your cards like adding embellishments. For example small ceramic objects, small stones, flowers, buttons, shells, sand, coins, metallic art paper, or scraps of fabric all make great additions to a project. You can even use small objects to assemble pictures on the deck instead of just using them as embellishments.

Photographs used as artwork for decks of Tarot cards work well, especially if you plan to use the decks as gifts for family members or friends. Most importantly remember that imagination and experimentation are wonderful tools to be utilized while designing your own special deck of Tarot cards that are just right for you.

The Thoth Tarot Deck was a tarot deck developed by the English occultist Aleister Crowley and illustrated on his instructions by Lady Frieda Harris. Aleister Crowley called the Thoth tarot deck, the book of Thoth and claimed that the deck reflected the wisdom of the ancient Egyptian book of Thoth.

The tarot card descriptions found on the Thoth Tarot deck are different in symbolism and imagery compared to other standard tarot card decks.

Thoth is considered one of the most important deities of the ancient Egyptian pantheon. He is known as the God with the head of an ibis. He is the heart and tongue of the all-powerful Egyptian Sun God Ra. He translated the will of Ra into speech and is the divine communicator of Egyptian mythology.

He was the scribe of the Gods and was called the God of Writing. The book of Thoth is used for divination through tarot cards. The tarot card descriptions on the Thoth deck are reflections of the great knowledge of the ancient Egyptians.

A cult of Thoth grew during the last years of the Egyptian civilization who claimed to predict the future through occult divination. Aleister Crowley claims that the Thoth tarot deck developed by him was based on the tarot card descriptions followed by the cult of Thoth. He developed the deck between 1938 and 1943.

He commissioned Lady Frieda Harris to illustrate the deck based on his visions and based on the ancient Egyptian book of Thoth papyrus by Jasnow and Zauzich. It took five years to develop the deck because Crowley wanted the images to reflect different disciplines including science and philosophy.

The tarot card descriptions in the Crowley Thoth tarot deck are different from the Rider Waite and other standard tarot card decks. The Major Arcana or trump cards are 21 in number and consist of the fool, the Magician or Magus, the high Priestess, the Emperor, the Empress, the Hierophant, the lovers, the chariot, Adjustment, the hermit, the wheel of fortune, lust, the hanged man, death, art, devil, tower, star, moon, sun, aeon and the universe.

Court cards in the Thoth minor Arcana deck are the prince, the princess, queen and the knight. While the suite of cups, disks, swords and wands remain the same, they are illustrated with an Egyptian hieroglyphic style.

The pips of the minor Arcana in the Thoth deck relate to the signs of the zodiac with the aces depicting the root of the element they represent. Each pip card in each suite has an attribute.

The wand suite relates to the fire signs of the zodiac. The ace represents the root of the fire element 2 dominions, 3 virtues, 4 completion, 5 strife, 6 victory, 7valor, 8 swiftness, 9 strength and 10 oppression.

The cup suite represents the water signs of the zodiac. The ace represents the root of the water element, 2 love,3 abundance, 4 luxury, 5 disappointment, 6 pleasure, 7 debauchery, 8 indolence, 9 happiness and 10 safety.

The sword suite represents the air signs of the zodiac. The ace represents the root of the air element 2 peace, 3 sorrow, 4 truces, 5 defeats, 6 science, 7 futility, 8 interference, 9 cruelty and 10 ruin.

The disks suite represents the earth signs of the zodiac. The ace is the root of the earth element, 2 change, 3 work, 4 power, 5 worry, 6 success, 7 failure, 8 prudence, 9 gain and 10 wealth.

The Thoth tarot deck reflects the tarot card descriptions that formed the visions of Aleister Crowley on a visit to Egypt. Many diviners have found great merit in predicting the future using the Thoth Tarot deck.

The Page of Pentacles represents a youthfulness that can bear the weight of responsibility on his grounded shoulders. He can manage wealth better than almost anyone else.

If this card comes in a tarot reading about an event, he is referring to a material or occupation oriented matter. Good fortune awaits you in one of these areas.

If the card refers to a person, it is someone who would be considered an “old soul” or wise beyond their years. They work hard, apply common sense and would never be considered a risk taker. He is the master of seeing an opportunity in the weeds and reaching for it.

If there is a team project or a large responsibility around the corner, the Page will provide the strength, energy and insight needed to deal with it effectively.

Knight of pentacles from the Rider-Waite deck

The Knight of Pentacles is a man of action—but thoughtful action, which isn’t the case with the other knights in the deck. He considers a situation thoroughly before acting but when it comes time to charge forward, he does so with tremendous force.

Dedicated, loyal and true to his word this Knight is willing and able to shoulder any amount of responsibility. Persistence could be his middle name. He is a man of tradition and logic and may find himself annoyed by those who would be considered dreamers.

He always achieves success with his ethical approach and strength of character.

Queen of Pentacles from the Rider-Waite deck

The Queen of Pentacles is maternal and fertile. Whatever wealth she has was gained through her kind and generous nature. This card can either represent an aspect of self or another person in a tarot reading. Intuition, dedication, love and happiness are what she is devoted to.

The weak spot in her facade is that she clings to notions of security. Trust and security are hallmark to her.

Material wealth is not a priority. The Queen is often portrayed as a mother, whether she actually has children or not, due to her caring nature and dedication to the home and family.

King of Pentacles from the Rider-Waite deck

The King of Pentacles has enough wealth to spread around and does so. This card is representative of another person or a part of the self in a tarot reading.

The King encourages others to behave as he has since it obviously turned out well for him. He is true to his word but unlike the Knight doesn’t take on responsibility just because he wants to. The King wants a profit.

Intelligence and experience make him a responsible businessman who gets what he wants in a respectable fashion. Like the Queen, he is concerned with security but finds it in the material world.

He is dutiful, traditional but adaptable and normally not prone to bouts of temper. If someone deceives him, the punishment will be great.

The King is the endpoint of a stage of success, a sign that effort can be suspended and wealth enjoyed for the time being. There is no negativity bogging this success down and the freedom of generosity can be expressed.

Author: Victor Epand

Tarot card decks are divided into the Major and Minor Arcane. The Minor Arcane, which deals with everyday or common occurrences, is made up of fifty six cards divided into four elemental suits: Wands (fire), Cups (water), Swords (air) and Coins (earth).

Each suit contains ten cards that start with Ace, followed by two then proceeding on to ten. Then there are four court cards: the Page, Knight, Queen and King.

The Ace of the suit sums up the overall theme. The numbered cards in the center clarify what has or will happen and what can be done. The personifications of the court cards represent ways we can exist in the world and how that tactic could benefit or harm us. In certain Tarot patterns, they represent real people- either ourselves or someone we interact with.

The suit of Wands carries overall themes of action, creativity and movement. Fire is the associated element and its presence indicates passion, energy and being tested. The court cards of Wands introduce characters that can be recognized externally or internally.

They are more concerned with attributes than occurrences. Occurrences can be gleamed from other cards and approached with the knowledge of what court card personality will be available to take on the situation.

Page of Wands from the Rider-Waite deck

The Page of any suit is spontaneous and pleasure oriented like a young child. The Page of Wands is all about passion for life.

Internal energy can provide the fuel for conquering fears, habits and achieving freedom. This card is assertive and carries confidence and action.

The card will normally not come up in relation to an event—usually referring to either yourself or another person.

Knight of Wands from the Rider-Waite deck

The Knight of Wands is warm, generous, energetic, humorous, optimistic and enthusiastic. There is also a morality to this knight in shining armor including a desire to protect the vulnerable.

Dragons can be slain, doubts torn to bits and obstacles put behind you if this card comes up in your Tarot reading.

He does have a tendency to swing from one extreme to another, and balance can be a key to make sure his energy doesn’t become a runaway train.

Queen of Wands from the Rider-Waite deck

Determination and ambition mark the Queen of Wands. This card normally comes up in a Tarot reading after significant traumas have taught valuable lessons.

Loyal, honest, proud and forceful The Queen makes a good friend but strong foe. Her presence can signify to do absolutely anything if the will is great enough.

She is as capable as the King but has the quiet force of feminine energy.

King of Wands from the Rider-Waite deck

The King of Wands carries some of the same morality and nobility as the Knight. The King is connected with nature, mature, faithful and realistic. He has the strength to move through the obstacles of life while picking up the weak and carrying them on his back.

There can be a delay of action associated with this Tarot card stemming from an inability to wisely pick battles and overanalyzing.

Overall, the King is masculine strength and capability personified.

Whenever you say tarot cards, you would in most cases find it means the Rider Waite tarot deck. This is because this is one of the most commonly used types of card decks.

The history of using tarot cards may take you to ancient times, however the tarot cards as they are known today can be traced to the year 1910 when Arthur Edward Waite designed these with the help of a very talented illustrator named Pamela Colman Smith.

While Waite was British, Smith was American at that time. Waite, who was a renowned publisher, also printed an excellent guide to help with the interpretation of this tarot deck titled, The Key to the Tarot. This book has often been re-run and used by a slightly modified title, The Pictorial Key to the Tarot.

This is a wonderful book for any tarot enthusiast because it assists you in every step while using tarot cards for a reading. Waite made a few changes when he designed this new set of cards.

The Justice and Strength cards were interchanged so Justice read as card 11 while Strength reads as card 8.

All the Minor Arcana cards, which previously only had their numbers and suit symbols inscribed on them, had pictures added by Waite and Smith creating a more interesting and in many ways, easier-to-read tarot deck.

You will find that this particular deck is not only the most popular found today, but also one that is most eloquent in readings. Owing to the beautiful scenes and symbols that Rider Waite and Pamela Smith introduced, each card becomes a miniature book for the diviner, who is able to read the symbols as they become apparent during a reading.

The tarot deck, with the help of the key, can encourage any amateur to want to learn more about this occult art. Each card has scenery, background and many symbols, which at first glance look child-like simple. On closer perusal, the details would literally unfold before your eyes the story of your subject.

Using tarot cards for divination by novices became apparently easier after this deck was issued. This is why this is one of the most popular versions of tarot cards used today throughout the world.

A good number of the symbols that you would find on these cards are the result of the inspiration the authors drew from Eliphas Levi, who was during those time an extremely famous and successful occultist and magician.

Fascinated by the signs this occult personality used and convinced that using tarot cards need more visual stimulation for a proper interpretation, Waite tried to make his tarot deck speak out eloquently with the help of color, scenes and symbols.

Owing to the popularity of the Waite tarot cards, many clones have found their way in this type of divination. Some of the better-known versions include the Gilded tarot, the Aquarian tarot, the Universal Waite tarot, the Nigel Jackson tarot and the Golden tarot among others. Do not be fooled by the imitations. Use the original Rider Waite tarot deck.

The Page of any suit has a childlike personality about it. Of all the Pages, this is the most mature and capable but it maintains much of the lightness and whimsy of childhood.

This tarot card can represent an event, a part of you or an aspect of another person. It is typically a positive minded card, representing mental power and insight.

There is also an investigative nature at work here but usually not in a detrimental way. Balance and strength of heart exist in this card.

When this card shows up in a reading, you will have the clarity and diplomacy to make a decision regarding even the toughest decision.

Knight of Swords from the Rider-Waite deck

The Knight of Swords bears no resemblance to his little brother the Page. He is without emotion, hostile and a bringer of conflict. There is no fear here or chance of defeat.

His feelings of invincibility, while a negative on the whole, can give him the short term confidence needed to plow through an obstacle. There is no balance in judgment–but that can be a good thing.

Sometimes a situation can only be rectified by plowing straight through it without fear and with the knowledge that you can make it through to the other side unscathed. That said, the negative aspects of this card need to be watched so that they do not become overpowering and unproductive.

This card can represent an aspect of you, another person or an event.

Queen of Swords from the Rider-Waite deck

The Queen of Swords has an emotional side but you’ll never see it—even though it does influence her decisions. The majority of times that this card shows up in a tarot reading it is representing another person.

She is able to see through to the heart of a situation and sense even the most subtle deception. She holds honesty and truth higher than all other things.

She is often distant from others due to exacting standards and can suffer from negative self-worth feelings due to not living up to them herself. But her brilliant sense of humor can mask these feelings well for others.

She is symbolic of learning something from every situation and becoming a master of analysis.

King of Swords from the Rider-Waite deck

The King of Swords is the fairest judge you can find. Highly emotional, he is able to keep his feelings in check when making decisions.

Usually, this card represents another person in a tarot reading but it can occasionally be an aspect of self. He is a commander, a leader—someone that others follow out of trust.

He is capable of making the best decision for the group at whole. He is active and likely to make the first strike. His lack of empathy can come down harshly on those who break what he has deemed to be the rules.

When this card appears, the person it represents will draw attention of others as their leadership abilities and mental clarity become obvious. This is a person who takes charge of a room and leads them to battle. He is as far from being a wallflower as you can be.

The Page of Cups takes on the most imaginative and emotional aspects of childhood. This person lives with their feet floating above the ground so that their head can remain firmly in the clouds.

If the card represents an event in your tarot reading, the event in question will likely have to do with a child—as in a pregnancy. But it can also be the birth of a relationship or new emotional state.

If the card represents another person or a part of you, it is representative of a romantic. Compassion, gentleness, and imagination define this person. They love peace and can’t always handle conflict. There is bravery under their dreamy fadade.

But there is also a moodiness and impracticality that stems from not being connected fully with reality. Under this card, dream big and dare to think the impossible can be possible.

Knight of Cups from the Rider-Waite deck.

The Knight of Cups does not gallop forward as quickly and boldly as the knights of the other suits. He travels slowly, calmly and with his intuition and emotional self acting as his guide.

He is often a messenger of love and opportunity. He can be the bearer of the beginning of a new relationship that bears a warning of not looking at it with too much idealism.

If this represents a person, expect them to be a romantic dreamer with a flirtatious side. They will be passionate and goal oriented.

They can’t tolerate those who don’t believe in them or their dreams. The Knight emphasizes moderation in dreaming and love.

Queen of Cups from the Rider-Waite deck.

The Queen of Cups is capable of a great deal of insight. A counselor, healer, psychic and shoulder to lean on all wrapped in one royal package. Her beauty is astonishing and her ability to attract others to her remarkable.

She is also a dreamer that can lose herself in those realms away from reality. She defines herself in part by her relationships and thus puts great weight on their success. Her intuitions into others and ability to show them what is there is astonishing but she isn’t always able to do the same for herself.

Depending on how this card shows up in a tarot reading, it can be a sign that you are not using your intuition enough or that you are relying on it too much.

King of Cups from the Rider-Waite deck

The King of Cups has a calm, glassy surface and a passionate fire burning below. He can be an advisor or healer, a fair judge, a sympathetic and compassionate ally.

Wise, romantic and confident, the King is nevertheless hiding much about himself. He has motives and an agenda. He can be selfish and to those that he draws near unfaithful. At heart, he is filled with insecurity and doubt.

When this card appears, use the King’s tolerance and fairness to solve whatever problems you are facing. Stay between his fire and water sides to not feel the negative effects of this card. After all, it is no better to drown than it is to burn.

Author: Craig Malone

Tarot symbols are the basic elements of divination through the use of tarot cards. The conscious easily recognizes alphanumeric characters but the subconscious only recognizes symbols. The symbols combine to help the diviner interpret the hidden answers to the question of the seeker.

The symbols used on tarot cards are usually based on the images found on the Rider-Waite tarot card deck. A variety of card decks with different images is available. This is because tarot cards throw up meanings through images to which a seeker can relate.

Divination through tarot cards is not only image based. Tarot cards have numbers and colors, which also symbolize hidden meanings.

The mention of tarot card prediction immediately brings to mind images. The images that are found on tarot cards are important tarot symbols that unlock the mystery of the problems of the seeker.

The tarot card deck consists of fifty-six minor Arcana cards. The images on the minor Arcana cards deal with everyday problems and symbolize their relationship with the seekers problems. There are four suites, cups, pentacles, swords and wands. Each suite has four court cards with images of kings, queens, knights and pages and ten pips.

The four suits have their own hidden meanings. Wands symbolize desires, cups symbolize emotions, swords symbolize intellectual pursuits and pentacles symbolize finances. The twenty-two cards that make up the Major Arcana have greater symbolic value and used by diviners to deal with deeper emotions, higher thoughts and long-term goals.

Tarot symbols are not merely found in imagery. Tarot cards are colorful cards and each color tells its own story. The combination of colors also helps a diviner find the meaning and purpose of the question asked by the seeker. Different colors have different meanings.

The color white symbolizes healing and purity, the color black indicates obscurity, the color browns reveals practicality, the color pink depicts love, the color red is a symbol of the heart, the color green is the color of healing, the color orange shows vitality and its kindred hue yellow symbolizes zest.

The color blue is the image of the open sky and the color purple reflects the soul. The diviner concentrates on the image and combines it with the meaning of the color to arrive at a conclusion.

The numbers on tarot cards are also tarot symbols and reveal hidden meanings to diviners. Tarot card numbers are listed from one to ten and each has a symbol. 0 symbolizes potential, the number 1 depicts loneliness, 2 companionship and love, 3 the triad, 4 material realities, 5 depicts the five human senses, 6 is the number of harmony, 7 is regarded as an odd number that symbolizes introspection. The number 8 depicts power and material prosperity, the number 9 depicts wisdom and the number 10 depicts finality and closure.

Interpreting tarot symbols effectively is the secret of divination using tarot cards. These symbols are the key to unlocking the secret of the seeker’s query by giving valuable insights at different levels of the subconscious.
